All over the world, this last year taught us that strength is more important than ever before. Strength is so much more than just physical prowess. It’s the well within you that you draw from when times get tough. It’s what allows us to carry on through adversity, to lift others up even when things couldn’t be harder. Strength is kindness. Strength is confidence. Strength can even look like asking for help.

Sometimes it can be hard to feel particularly strong, especially in times of stress or change. But our strength is at the core of who we are and determines how we move through this world, day in and day out. It doesn’t fade, because it is intrinsic. It is possible to lose touch with your strength, but it never leaves you.

Here are a few ways to reconnect with the heroic strength inside of you:

  • If you feel disconnected, take a moment and realize where you are. You may be in a time of transition.
  • Take a break. Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, you can take a staycation to allow yourself to breathe and settle, or just take a few minutes to regroup.
  • Learn to calm yourself. Try exercise, meditations, taking a nap, writing in a journal… do whatever makes you feel calmer.
  • Hang out with people who love you, even if it is only by Zoom for now. Let them know you are struggling and need some comfort.
  • Shake up your routine and try something different… maybe try a new recipe that you can eat with a friend on zoom. Each of you could cook the same recipe and share your thoughts. Or give a new exercise a try, alone or in a virtual group. The joy of discovery often helps us realign with our inner strength.

We all need time to recharge, no matter how strong we are. Even the strongest muscles need time to recover from exertion. Cut yourself a break, and most importantly, be kind to yourself. You are strong, and your strength makes the world better. Remember: you are capable, and you can make it through.

If you feel your strength waning, or if you don’t feel strong enough to handle things on your own, I’m here to help you find that inner core. Sign up for a session today, and together we can find ways to reconnect you with your strength.
